Mix it to "warm honey" consistency and apply it with a needleless 10cc syringe. Work it in with the tip. Excellent control.

1) GE says it has been in there all along, many people have used it with no harm done. 2) People have used the GE II with bioseal for vivariums accidentally, and I don't think anyone has lost frogs due to it yet. 3) Bioseal is a mold inhibitor. Mold inhibitors target mold very specifically, and don't harm many other organisms.

I have used boat loads of GE Silicone II Window and Door- "Clear" on glass garden totems as well as a mosaiced bowling ball that have lived outside and survived the deep freeze of multiple northern IL winters. The thing I like about this stuff in particular is that for a little extra expense, you can buy 2.8 oz tubes of it for smaller projects.

I've had this happen, too - old caulk, won't ever cure, and it's a disaster to clean up. I've given up on GE Silicone II - I used to think it was the only product to use, but I've had it get moldy, it's impossible to neatly apply or remove, and some of the new acrylic caulks seem to be much faster drying, mold resistant, and easier to clean up and apply.

The arguments about Bio seal IMO is complete bull, my tank's been up for a few months, but no frogs, but happy springs. I've also made a custom 43 gallon fish tank using GE Silicone II, clear. I've never seen any evidence confirming that Bio seal has had any long term effects on eggs, tadpoles, and frogs with use of over 5 years.
